Closing the plastic loop – A seminar and panel discussion about plastic circularity solutions, from academia to society

As the global demand for sustainable plastic solutions grows, the challenge of balancing environmental responsibility with practical needs is more pressing than ever. Join us for an engaging short talk session and panel discussion, held as part of Lund Sustainability Week 2025, where experts from academia, healthcare, and local government will explore innovative strategies to reduce our plastic footprint.
About the Event
As the need for circular pathways of plastics increases in the global marketplace, academia, healthcare, and society as a whole are faced with the challenge of implementing environmentally conscious and cost-effective practices. This short talk session and panel discussion will highlight innovative solutions developed to reduce our plastic footprint. The talks and panelists will share their experiences and insights on:
- Sustainability goals and how they incorporate sustainability into their everyday operations
- Challenges faced and where the responsibility lies
- Opportunities to collaborate and facilitate the shift towards sustainable use of plastics whilst balancing the needs from workplace to society
Key learning objectives:
- Learn about the current landscape of plastic pathways
- Explore solutions to the challenges faced and how to work together towards solutions and balance the needs

About the Organizers
The event is organised by Lund Stem Cell Center & Strategic Research Area StemTherapy, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. Founded in 2003, Lund Stem Cell Center is a leading academic research organization advancing the field of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine at Lund University. Our scientific community includes 44 research groups with over 300 members, which established its own Sustainability Committee in 2022.
