Basic Course in R Programming
Together with the Bioinformatics Core Facility, the Research School in Stem Cell Biology is excited to host an exciting opportunity for students to enhance their skills in R programming!
Our Basic Course in R is designed to provide participants with a solid foundation in this widely-used and versatile language. Throughout the course, you will learn the fundamentals of R, from data ingestion and storage to analysis and visualization, with a focus on bioinformatics examples. Students will engage in hands-on exercises, group work, and a final project to reinforce their understanding and practical application of R.
Course Details:
The aim of this course is to teach the fundamentals of the R language to a point where participants will feel confident using it in their day-to-day work.
Assuming no prior knowledge, the course will start with the basics and build to describe how data can be ingested, stored, and analysed in R using examples from bioinformatics. The course will involve some group work to solve problems and program algorithms, and will finish with a project (done in your own time) that will consolidate everything learned during the course.
Participants will need a laptop with R and R-studio installed, as coding exercises will be an integral part of the course.
Course Topics:
- Introduction to R and R Studio
- Data types and structures in R
- Data manipulation and transformation
- Visualization
- Flow control
- Functions
Course Fee:
The course fee is 6000 SEK.
