Computational Genomics
Soneji Group
Thousands of single-cells can be profiled using next generation sequencing technologies, and this leads to a massive amount of data which needs processing and analysing to determine the underlying biology of the samples assayed. Key to this is data visualisation, and a common step is to generate "maps" of cells which make the data human-comprehensible. The maps are often constructed in three dimension, but current methods to visualise 3D data are poor.
Our lab is pioneering the use of virtual reality (VR) to display big-data in a way which is immersive and fully interactive. Researchers have full 3D access to all aspects of their data, and an array of virtual tools to analyse it.
